Massage Therapy by Mateo

I'm a big fan of targeted intentional massage. Mateo does a great job of finding my tension and relieving it. His massages allow me to maintain more consistent at the gym and spending less time recovering. I highly recommend.

I've had several massages in the past, but the one I just received from Mateo was by far, hands-down the best. This was my first massage with him. I can say 'my first' because I know after this experience, I will be back. I went in with leg and feet pain from jogging, but he also zeroed in on other aggravating spots that I failed to mention, mainly because I attributed it to nearing 40! Beyond what I mentioned when I arrived, he deliberately, methodically, and thoroughly gave a significant amount of attention to any area that he sensed was of concern. Because of his skills, these areas are of no concern anymore. Additionally, he's kind, handsome, and seemingly gentle upon introduction, which can be pleasantly deceptive because his massage is firm and deep. I'll definitely be seeing him again. Thank you, Mateo, for becoming my #1 massage therapist!

Mateo met me at the front door with a big smile, he welcomed me into his home, the space is clean and inviting going from the bright open living room to a dimly lit massage room, it sets a tone for relaxation. I took a quick shower to clean off from the heat of the day, we discussed my problem areas (too much time in front of a computer and poor sleep posture have me in all kinds of pain). His massage table is wide and comfortable and the head rest was the first that didn't put too much pressure on my sinuses. It's a very comfortable set up. I didn't give much direction beyond pointing out my sore shoulders and lower back but Mateo got right to work and seemed to find tension and soreness that I had just learned to live with. His style was unlike any massage I've had before. Best to describe it like a warm hug that somehow woke up my entire body while also putting me at ease. Kind of a flow between invigorating and relaxing that kept my attention for the full 2 hours.

Mateo is skilled with his hands and has a big heart. My wife recently passed, I was struggling to feel connected with my body much less allowing anyone else touch me. I am so grateful for the short time Mateo was based here in South Lake Tahoe, in less than 2 years of bodywork, my transformation has been life changing. How anyone could help pull me out of my darkness with such care and compassion is beyond words. I am sad to see him leave for Texas but family first, take care-- don't be a stranger. Massage can be healing both inside and out.

My husband and I moved up to Tahoe from the Bay area years ago. We were looking for a gay massage therapist and thought it was a lost cause. I was so excited to find Mateo had opened a massage studio in South Lake. I like deep tissue and sports massage, Mateo really delivers. Talk about attention to detail! Mateo's technique was truly a rewarding experience. I was having some major problems with my it banck. Mateo knew the proper technique and got right to work.

His location is very accessibile for the regional rail. Street parking is not recommended in Manayunk in the evening but they do have a few hourly lots very close by.

One thing I enjoyed about Mateo is that he did not talk during the massage. We clearly discussed the problem areas and he went right to work. His appointment booking system is great. The other plus about Mateo is his availability. It's great to know you can get a quality massage even if you are leaving the gym or work in the evening.

I will be a repeat customer.

Mateo is new to Philadelphia and if my first massage with him is any indication, he is a welcome addition to our city. Mateo was very prompt and helpful from my first outreach and was able to fit me in on the same day. He is warm, friendly and easy to connect with and obviously cares a lot about his craft and his clients. He was very attentive throughout the massage, asking questions to make sure his focus was tailored to my needs. I am a competitive long-distance runner and he clearly knows about massage. This is my first ever recommendation, but I do so for Mateo without hesitation.

Mateo is great, I was having a lot of back issues and his massage was exactly what I needed. The space was great, station was clean, atmosphere was calming and relaxing, and his hands were great. Very professional and made sure I was comfortable and relaxed. He also made sure he paid attention to my problem areas as well as identified other problem areas I didn't realize I had. I will definitely be going back and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
