Charlie is, without a doubt, the most caring, kind, and talented masseur I've ever been to. Upon arrival, Charlie greeted me warmly, asked if there were specific areas that needed attention and solicited questions from me. I was immediately at ease. The massage itself was the kind of magic you don't find everywhere: targeted and intuitive, Charlie seems to listen simultaneously to his instincts as well as to your body. He checks in, offers suggestions for stretches, and explains his technique. It's a trek for me to get to Charlie - I live 60 miles away! - but he is worth every minute of the commute. Five stars, highly recommended.

I have spent a lot of money over the years on massage. Way too much really. I tried Charlie because of his good reviews. I had a couple of doubts before I arrived: his rates were too low for the DC area, he was older than the guys I have usually seen, he was a little further away than I normally like to travel – on the plus side he assured me there would be plenty of free on-street parking and there was.
It was by far the best massage experience I have had. Apparently, most guys I have seen don’t really know how to give a massage. Charlie showed me that a massage can be therapeutic without being overly painful. He also flowed smoothly between therapeutic deep tissue and longer more relaxing Swedish strokes. His home is nice and in an apparently fine neighborhood in the suburbs of DC. I felt safe and secure and welcomed, I genuinely believe he likes what he does. He is easy going but definitely in control of the space, I felt comfortable being able to ask questions. He was accommodating and let me know where the limits were. He is fairly popular, my first choice of time was booked up but he offers discounts for weekday daytime appointments which is when I was able to get in.

That was one of the most sensational massage experiences I ever had. So either you’re really good, or I don’t get out much, LOL kidding. Seriously, thank you! I needed that so much. The time there was outstanding and everything and more than I could have expected and wanted. Next time I’ll go for the hour and a half. I felt so relaxed afterward and it helped my anxiety tremendously. You are an artist and a true professional.

I am a 77 year old man and have been going to Charlie for a massage monthly for the last 15 and and a half years. I had been to other masseurs but not since seeing Charlie. Our sessions are very helpful and enjoyable, I love being with Charlie, he is a great all around guy who I can talk to and discuss things with. He is compassionate, and caring, always asks about your condition before starting, and checks on how the session is going and the pressure he is applying throughout the massage. His table is heated and he gives you a bottle of water during the massage. His style is highly integrative encompassing many techniques that include deep issue, long strokes, stretching, and light touching, He evaluates your condition (he knows anatomy) and gives you his health recommendations afterward, I highly recommend Charlie to anyone wanting a massage. - Al

That was an amazing massage and just what I needed today. I’ll have to remember to ask for the deep tissue special next visit. You really got in there and loosened up some areas that have never been worked like that before. Magical.

I have seen Charlie several times now and he is a really nice guy. I think that is the first thing that I want to impart. I called him a while ago and he was not available when I had free time (and I really needed a massage) so he suggested another masseur by name. Who does that?? He also actually knows how to give a REAL massage.
He only does in-calls so that means a trip to the burbs but there is free parking on the street and he has a cute little house in Hyattsville, MD. When he opens the door to welcome me in, he is wearing a black t-shirt and gray shorts. The lighting is soft and music is playing, there is a candle burning. My first impression of Charlie was that of a father figure. There is an understanding and knowledge of the human body that comes from experience. He has really great energy. He is friendly and inviting, asks if I need the bathroom and lets me know there is water available if I need it. He asks if I have any aches or pains or illnesses that he needs to be aware of and if I have questions or comments before we start and lets me know my draping options. He excuses himself to wash his hands while I got undressed and lay face down on his heated table.
When he comes back, he drapes my feet to keep them warm and gets to work. He uses a massage cream that is unscented and absorbs into the skin, he never uses oils. His touch is firm and sure and he checks in with me often to make sure that the pressure is ok. We talk occasionally. The music is great. His touch alternates between firmly working out knots, long connecting strokes and light fingertip only strokes.
When everything is done, he towels you down and lets you relax on the table for a few minutes while he washes his hands again. He lets you get up slowly and have some water while he talks about what he has found while doing the massage. He gives me a hug and reminds me every time that if I ever have any questions or comments to let him know either in person or later by text or email.
I must also add that he is the most reasonably priced masseur considering everything that you get with his massage. Too many times I have paid a premium price for someone who didn’t know how to massage but had a pretty face!
I always feel like I have been rejuvenated by a close friend. Thank you Charlie!

I really appreciate so many things about Charlie’s massage work.
First, it is legit massage work, he knows how to give a real massage – I have had many disappointing experiences in the DC region.
Second, he is so friendly, I mean to the point where I occasionally just open up and tell him what’s bothering me personally (like my issues with my wife).
Third, he listens when I prattle on and seems genuinely interested.
Fourth, he checks in often asking if the pressure is OK etc. I have often wanted to stop a session for water or a tissue or to go to the bathroom but didn’t want to upset the masseur or interrupt their flow, being asked gives me the chance to say “yeah, I need X”
Fifth, he asks before each session what if I have any aches, pains, injuries or illnesses – anything that he needs to know. He follows that up with if there are any areas I don’t want touched, ticklish etc. Then he continues by asking if I have any questions or comments! You have no idea how many times I have felt too shy to say something to a masseur but Charlie makes it all so comfortable. And he is not kidding about the ask ANY question, he will do his best to give you a straight forward answer.
Sixth, when the massage is over, he checks in again and gives some practical advice. Then as I am leaving, he reminds me if I have any questions or comments I can text or email him. Who does that? And again, he means it!
Seeing Charlie for a massage is not just about getting a great massage (which you do) but about feeling comfortable with a new friend.
I just wish I could see him every week!

After just having a glass of wine outside on my patio, I’m fondly looking back on the session and how it played out. I was unsure how it may go and want to thank you again for the incredible massage and the stretching was so much better by waiting toward the end of the session after you got me nice and warmed up, that was intense! Charlie is a friendly and charismatic therapist. From the moment you enter his massage space, you feel relaxed. More importantly, you feel like he is going to customize the next couple of hours to what you need.

Constantly checking to make sure the pressure is correct, he engages in interesting conversation. He also knows when to let the silence go on. Music selection is part of the charm as well. If I had to pick one characteristic that distinguishes him from others it is the use of his thumbs and elbows as he stretches and rubs your body.

Once the session is over, he also offers practical advice about posture and wellness based on what he discovered while gliding over your body.

With a plethora of DC massage therapists, I was glad I choose Charlie to be my massage therapist at the end of my business trip. After spending a week driving in monotonous traffic and sitting through hours of humdrum meetings, my body was in desperate need to be worked on. When I visited Charlie for our session, he initially inquired about specific regions on my body that needed attention, but while on the table had an innate ability to effectively pinpoint and work on my problem areas, kneading out the knots in my shoulders, lower back, and hips, while providing a thoroughly relaxing full body massage. Being masterful in the art of conversation while balancing the healing importance of silence, Charlie had a knack to make me feel completely at ease, like visiting a familiar friend.
Thank you Charlie for sharing your gift of touch, as you are one of the few people I have met who could workout my aches and pains, while allowing me to destress from a long work week, ready to conquer the next day full of vigor and vibrancy. I had one of the best massages this week. I visited Charlie this afternoon and he immediately welcomed me into his home. He followed the State's COVID19 protocals, we both used mask during the session. He asked about my well being and if I had any aches and or pains anywhere. He offered me the use of the bathroom and drinking water before, during and after. I disrobed and laid down on the table which was heated, he laid a warm towel over my feet and he began a wonderful massage and experience that out surpassed most that I have received. He asked many times if his techniques were too hard and how I was feeling. He respected what boundaries I had. There isn't anything negative that I can say about the man or the massage. At the end he went over areas that needed further attention and seemed happy with my progress, since our last session. Charlie has never failed to cater to my needs. I have a very stressful job and carry a lot of stress in my upper shoulders. I contacted Charlie and asked him for a firm massage to help loosen the tension in my muscles. I was very pleased that Charlie was able to apply strong pressure in the right way to help relax me.
Charlie conducted a thorough assessment before we began and constantly checked on me throughout the massage. He demonstrated a solid knowledge of body musculature and was educated me about how to perform stretches that would help me avoid muscle spasms in the future. I got the 90 min massage for $140. I’ve had regular massages for years, but this one was particularly effective. I’m new in this area, and this was my first therapy with Charlie, so I waited a couple of days to post this, to assess the results. Whatever he did to my neck and upper back has made my chronic annoying pain abate almost entirely. What relief! Also, his expert stretching of my joints and tendons has given my whole body a pleasant feeling of elasticity and physical well-being that I’m still experiencing. - Peter

I come back to you again and again because you give me a great therapeutic massage. However, you do so much more than that. You listen when I need to talk. You ask me if I have any issues before we start and pay attention. You read my body to find out what it needs. You check in with me often to make sure I am doing alright. You make me feel like I'm someone special. I have tried other therapists from time to time and always come back to you. When I told you that, you encouraged me to look around to find what you like best. I love how the more I see you the more comfortable I feel and the better the massage seem to get.

I can't say thank you enough! I was having sciatic issues as well as pains in my neck. Charlie managed to work out those issues and still massage the rest of me within 90 mins! He is the real deal! Checked in with me constantly to make sure the pressure was ok (he works deep when and where needed). I felt so much better afterward. I also need to say he is a Nice Guy. Quiet unless I wanted to talk. Intelligent. Treated me like a good friend even though we had just met.

I visited Charlie when I was having a chronic, severe issue with my back. He made time to see me on short notice and upon arrival wanted to know in more detail what was bothering me. As he massaged me, he was regularly checking in with me wanted to ensure I was not in any discomfort. At the end of the massage, he took time to show me some stretches and made some recommendations for me to try to avoid the issue in the future. I felt much better after my visit and would recommend Charlie to anybody who wants to feel better.

I have read great testimonies about Charlie's work so I finally decided to find out for myself. Charlie is undoubtedly one of the best masseurs around! To start, he is a great guy who takes his time to make sure I was comfortable as he did a brief assessment of my problem areas and expectations. His style is highly integrative of many techniques that included deep tissue, long seamless strokes, stretching and lighter touch - the kind where one suspends thought and sensations take over. He certainly raises the bar on what massage is for me. I left feeling quite relaxed. Charlie was kind to offer some stretching tips in the post massage conversation. I will definitely return.

As a CMT who travels more than I am home, I refer guys looking for a good massage to Charlie since he is one of the best in DC even though he actually lives in the 'burbs.

Charlie is a really good therapist. i wish I were able to get more massages from him but I travel too much to get to him.
