Overview

Pain is a poor map of the body, and I work from what the tissue tells me.

Therapeutic massage works best when it addresses the cause rather than the site. That is how I structure a session. What a client reports and what the body does are different. I give more weight to the second.

I begin with postural observation and a review of injuries, surgeries, and current conditions. I then work the tissue to find where restriction originates. It...More is frequently not the area a client identifies. Tension refers and compensates, so the aching shoulder is often held by the ribs, hip, or opposite side.

Once I locate the restriction, I stay with it. Releasing a compensation pattern takes sustained work in one place rather than broad coverage, and that is where most of a session goes.

I draw on Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy. I select among them by how tissue responds instead of a set routine.

I am a licensed nurse and professional massage therapist. I work at a private studio in Northridge and by mobile appointment across LA. I use organic oils and accommodate scent sensitivities.
