Joel took my breathe away! I had the Ashitsu massage. He has such a talent that it must be experienced. When I first walked in he was with a client (as the sign said) so I waited in the waiting area and was able to read the articles he was in that he had posted in his comfortable waiting room with music playing. Pretty impressive articles so I was looking forward to get started after reading them. As his client was leaving he was raving about the massage so that made me even more excited. Joel is without equal. I have had 3 massages from him and each time he outdoes himself. He instinctively finds the problem areas and applies pressure in the most effective and pleasurable manner possible. I have frequent neck tension and whether he uses his hands or his feet (Ashiatsu), Joel makes every muscle relax and feel great. He uses his heels and toes to stimulate and massage the entire back. I've had over 50 Ashiatsu massages (repeat therapists) and Joel is by far one of the best. Twice I have visited from out-of-state and have booked appointments with him. To say I was satisfied is an understatement. I never feel like he rushing through the massage but instead that he is caring about how I am feeling. He has great skills with his feet and knows where to place them and how much pressure to apply. He stimulates my mental state as well as renewing my physical state. This was my second time getting ashiatsu form Joel and they were incredible. Joel never seems to be in a rush and treats you like he's enthusiastic about fulling your needs from the massage. He has great skills with his feet and knows just where to place them and how much pressure to apply. First, I felt stress being released then my muscles were soothed. The first time I went to Joel he told me I was in for a treat. I think he was being modest. It was a real treat. To say I leave satisfied is an understatement. More people should treat themselves to Joel.

I had to write a review because 1. He is a wonderful guy and 2. I have never received a massage as deep and effective (though I had my doubts it would be) as this one and I have had many. I think he is actually undercharging his service so I gave him a nice tip and rescheduled for two weeks. He is the real deal!

I am a frequent recipient of massages and have gone to Joel a number of times. He is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, massage therapists I have ever had. His Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Massage must be experienced to be believed. I feel like a new man when Joel is done, and my back is pain free. Joel has a great, comforting personality. I am delighted to see he is back in Chicago.

Joel is simply the best and a review by me is long overdue as I worked with Joel for almost a year. He has hands that are amazingly strong, especially relative to his weight. He is expert at finding the right amount of pressure, as is able to find the knot you did not even realize you had. He is patient, comfortable, easy to work with, and completely professional. He knows massage like few others and I would imagine will continue to have a steady and growing list of regular clientele.
