Popular techniques: Swedish Massage

Considered the classic and most basic of all massage methods, Swedish massage was developed in the early-to-mid 1800s by European practitioners. It consists of five basic strokes: Effleurage - gliding strokes with the palms (and occasionally fingertips). Petrissage - kneading strokes with the hands and fingers. Friction - deep circular movements with the thumb pads or fingertips. Tapotement - brisk percussive movements. Vibration - rapid shaking of the back or limbs. Swedish massage seeks to flush the muscle fibers with lymph to help refresh and detoxify them, as well as to alleviate stress. Typically performed on a draped or undraped client on a table.
